Overview

The 21st Century Program Director is responsible for the leadership, compliance, and operational oversight of all 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) programs, including before/afterschool and summer programs across multiple sites. This includes staffing, program development, training, regulatory compliance, grant implementation, and community partnerships. This role works closely with the Compliance and Operations Directors to ensure alignment with YMCA standards, grant goals, and regulatory expectations while delivering high-quality academic enrichment and youth development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging and age-appropriate programs aligned with YMCA mission and goals.
  • Plan, implement, and disburse purchased curriculum (SCALED Learning) with fidelity through monthly activity plans across regional programs.
  • Coordinate monthly lesson plan materials orders for all programs in designated areas in collaboration with Regional Directors and Associate Regional Directors across association.
  • Ensure programs and staff comply with all regulatory agency’s rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Director to ensure that regional programs align with strategic priorities and objectives of the YMCA.
  • Regularly evaluate program content to ensure it remains relevant and of high quality.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise Program Coordinators and provide guidance in daily operations.
  • Support and monitor hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision of Group Leaders.
  • Collaborate with Regional Director on training, compliance, curriculum, and staff performance.
  • Work on-site with program staff to assess operations and provide support/coaching.
  • Plan and lead regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities in collaboration with Regional Director and Senior Directors.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Oversee the staffing, scheduling, logistics, and overall operations of programs across multiple sites.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings.
  • Act as a liaison between families and staff, addressing concerns and ensuring that program needs are met.
  • Respond to incidents, family concerns, and staffing challenges promptly and appropriately, and effectively.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events and meetings, promoting YMCA programs and services.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise in program delivery, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Provide leadership and support in the annual fundraising campaign, working with site directors and personnel to meet campaign goals.
  • Promote YMCA programs as part of community engagement and fundraising efforts.
  • Provide leadership and support to the site directors and site personnel in regards to the annual fundraising
  • campaign; responsible for percentage of annual campaign support annually.
  • Requires the use of a personal vehicle to travel between assigned programs within the region; may also require travel across the YMCA of Catawba Valley Association. Program assignments are subject to change based on organizational needs.
  • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, overseeing all programs and operations of the branch during assigned shifts.
  • Any duties assigned by supervisor.

The 21st Century Programs Director will be responsible for observing the following rules:

  • No Alcohol or drugs will be used on the job at any time.
  • Report all job accidents the same day the accident happens.
  • Obtain authorization from your supervisor for all non-emergency treatments for accidents.
  • Wear seat belts at all times in company vehicles.
  • Keep the area where you work clean and neat at all times.
  • Do not remove or bypass any guards on any machinery at any time.
  • Ask you supervisor when you need additional equipment or instructions to get the job done safely.
  • Lift with your legs, not your back, and get assistance with loads over 50 pounds.
  • Advise your supervisor of any hazardous conditions.
  • Follow all other written and spoken safety rules.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Child Development or equivalent with 12 SCH in EC/CD
  • EDU 261 and EDU 262 or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in youth development or child care administration.
  • Level III School Age Administrator credentials preferred or willingness to obtain.

Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of NC childcare licensing, grant implementation, and 21st CCLC compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning, budgeting, and grant documentation.
  • Knowledge of youth development best practices and academic enrichment standards.

Skills

  • Strong Leadership skills, experience managing teams, providing feedback, and ensuring professional growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and evaluate engaging and effective programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Posted Salary Range

USD $43,888.00 - USD $45,000.00 /Yr.
