Overview

Under the direction of the Camp Director and consistent with the Christian mission, the Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for assistance with overall operational management, including but not limited to curriculum planning and implementation; staff development, supervision, and management; program communications; child supervision, engagement, and behavior expectations; and meeting/exceeding licensing and sanitation requirements. The Summer Camp Coordinator must ensure that the needs of the campers and the goals of the program are met appropriately at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assuring that children are accounted for all times.
  • Planning and implementing weekly activity plans that fit children’s needs and provide appropriate balance and choices of activities.
  • Assuring the safety, health and welfare of the children in accordance with YMCA Camp Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Assuring that children are accounted for at all times
    Organizing and maintaining materials, supplies, and equipment in a responsible manner.
  • Being responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the YMCA and any area the children use.
  • Keeping the director advised of equipment and materials that need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Maintaining constant supervision of the children.
  • Working effectively with any staff assigned to the group.
  • Taking daily attendance and keeping all required reports pertaining to group.
  • Building and maintaining effective communication lines with supervisor, staff, parents, outside resources for field trips, and children.
  • Understanding NC Child Daycare Requirements, including supervision of children in outside activities for a portion of each day according to the state requirements, weather permitted.
  • Reporting to work promptly.
  • Being well-groomed at all times and reporting to work properly dressed.
  • Attending pre-employment and in-service training as required.
  • Keeping the Director informed of any camp problems.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 with high school diploma or GED
  • Positive and effective communication skills
  • Willingness to attend leadership training and continued education
  • CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Criminal background check
  • BSAC Training
  • YMCA Child Abuse Training

Posted Salary Range

USD $15.00 - USD $17.00 /Hr.
