Childwatch & Kids Adventure Attendant - Hickory Foundation YMCA

Under the general direction of the Membership Director and consistent with the mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley, the ChildWatch Teacher is responsible for the safety and well being of all patrons entering the child-watch area.

The ChildWatch Teacher will be responsible for:

1. Assuring the safety, health, and welfare of the children.
2. Demonstrating and teaching the YMCA values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
3. Organizing and maintaining classroom activity areas, materials, and supplies.
4. Keeping the director advised of equipment and materials that need to be repaired or replaced.
5. Maintaining constant supervision of children.
6. Taking daily attendance and keeping all required reports pertaining to ChildWatch.
7. Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents.
8. Building good communications with other staff to create a professional atmosphere.
9. Attending pre-employment and in-service training as required.
10. Creating a learning environment.
11. Keeping the Membership Director informed of problems.
12. Attending staff meetings as scheduled.
13. Reporting to work promptly.
14. Being well-groomed at all times and reporting to work properly dressed.
15. Any other duties assigned by the Membership Director or the Executive Director.

1. Must be at least 16 years of age
2. Current certification in first aid and safety and CPR
3. Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility
4. Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility
5. Must have good communication and organization skills
